The Best Barre Studios Near You

A cross-country survey of the sculpting-and-toning meccas where you can pick up a dancer’s body (with a little work). By Melissa Gelula and alexia brue of

Dancer/choreographer Richard Giorla borrowed from his ballet and classical training to create this famously toning and tightening experience (fortunately for you, no Julliard application is required). To get a lean dancer’s body without pointe shoes, you’ll practice and repeat ballet poses – some literal, some modern riffs. Class kicks off at the barre with thigh – quaking, quick tempo releves and flexibility training, then segues into cardio, light weights and floor work. 11 locations, 2 in the works
