CARDIO BARRE

Cardio Barre is a unique, high energy/no impact exercise class that combines barre work and lightweights with continual fat burning motion. Central to the workout are toning and resistance exercises for the butt, legs, torso and arms to sculpt muscles and elongate the appearance of your body.

A 35-minute mini Cardio Barre class. The most cardio and highest intensity offered at a Cardio Barre studio. When time is of the essence, this fun fast paced workout will give you a hardcore, full body intensive.

FLOOR BARRE SCULPT

Floor-Barre is a technique in ballet training that ” takes the basic ballet barre training from the standing position to the floor, “taking the effort of standing out of the equation and takes the weight bearing pressure off the ankles, knees and hips.”

Floor-Barre enables you to efficiently and effectively strengthen joints and muscles, correct alignment, release tension, and prevent and rehabilitate injuries. Enjoy the health benefits of this gentle, yet highly effective Technique.

WHAT TO BRING

  • A towel for floor work.
  • Water to hydrate.
  • A positive attitude. It will take a few times to get familiar with the format. Each time you take class your technique will improve and you will become stronger. “Repetition is the mother of skill.”

The class will be challenging but this is how we grow and the rewards are substantial.

WHAT TO WEAR

  • Comfortable workout wear.
  • Sticky socks are optional. They help with protection; keeping feet warm and get a grip on the Carpet.
  • You may purchase a towel, water, socks or clothing at the studio.
    We also offer towel rentals.

WHO IS WELCOME

  • 14 years old is the minimum age.
  • Men and women are welcome. It is a great workout for all
  • Pregnant yes. Always check with your doctor first; but the no-impact is ideal for strengthening the body and preparing during pre and post natal.
  • Come 15 minutes early to sign in and register.
  • Please remove street shoes before walking on the exercise floor.
  • Please be respectful as to loud talking and cell phones during class. This can be distracting to the other participants.
  • No cell phones allowed during floor barre

TECHNIQUE

WARM UP

The warm up is a very important part of any workout. It prepares the body to workout safely and avoid injury. The objective of the warm-up is to raise total body temperature and muscle temperature to prepare the entire body for vigorous activity.

CARDIO

Cardio helps increase the strength of your heart and lungs. Cardio can help you improve your endurance during workouts as well. Cardio workouts burn calories, which can help you lose excess fat that hides muscle definition.
With the fast pace and eclectic music of all genres that is produced by world renown DJ’s, Cardio Barre offers the highest amount of cardio work than any other barre class out there.

FLOOR WORK

Floorwork exercises are essential for maintaining good posture, keeping you upright, holding you in and making your entire body stronger. One of the reasons that floor exercises can be so effective is that they often rely on body weight, rather than on equipment. Research shows that high-intensity body weight workouts are actually more effective at getting you fit and taking off fat while building lean muscle than longer workouts at the gym. Body weight training also effectively combines cardio and strength training exercises together, to maximize your potential.

BALLET

The philosophy is simple; “if you want the look of a dancers body…you dance.” Dancers are typically not born with their ballet physiques, they are developed. Cardio Barre uses techniques dancers use to develop their techniques, physiques and beautiful posture. The exercises are instructed so that anyone can learn the moves. We use actual ballet terms and ballet exercises that ballet dancers use in their everyday classes.

UPPER BODY

Strength training helps you reduce body fat and burn calories more efficiently, which can result in healthy weight loss. Strength training helps preserve and enhance your muscle mass and bone mass, regardless of your age.
By using your own body weight and lightweights you will not bulk up.

COOL DOWN

Helps your heart rate and breathing to return towards resting levels gradually; helps avoid fainting or dizziness, which can result from blood pooling in the large muscles of the legs when vigorous activity is stopped suddenly helps to remove waste products from your muscles, such as lactic acid, which can build up …Also improves your flexibility.

THE DIFFERENCE

INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

Instructor training: Instructors go through a 7-day intensive training. Three years of classical ballet training is a prerequisite. Motivational techniques are taught on an on going basis within their continuing education by the creator and founder, Richard Giorla.

HIGH ENERGY / NO IMPACT

High-energy/No-impact. Cardio Barre offers the highest level of cardio of all the barre classes. This is all done without impactful movements on the body. The high energy allows for a heart pumping workout and the no-impact creates a safe workout.

COUNTING

Counting: The counting system is proprietary to Cardio Barre where as no other instructor in the world uses our system. This allows for equal repetitions and timing on every side of every exercise. Creating perfect balance.

MUSIC

We use all genres of fun fast paced music for variety.

BARRE VS MACHINE

Barre vs Machines: Working out with gym machines shuts down your stabilizers. Cardio Barre’s core based movements have your stabilizers firing on all cylinders. All which is critical in achieving great results.

EXERCISE TECHNIQUE

Exercise technique. Cardio Barre instructs you on correct technique. Poor technique can lead to injury and poor results. Putting emphasis or strain on different areas than intended, can hurt you rather than help you. Great technique equals great results.

BALLET

Ballet: Cardio Barre offers ballet moves to create all the benefits of the ballet dancer. Physique, posture, coordination, balance, body awareness, musical timing and much more.

THE FOUNDER

RICHARD GIORLA

After bringing his talent from New York City to Los Angeles, from the big screen to the small screen and even to the stage, dancer/CHOREOGRAPHER Richard Giorla, has used his over 30 years of experience and classical training to create CARDIO BARRE®, one of today’s hottest fitness workouts.

It began when Richard suffered a crushing hip injury, which ended his dance career. Giorla wanted to keep moving at a pace that made sense for his body, yet no exercise routine met his needs.
Giorla wasn’t alone. With years of experience in the fitness industry, he witnessed an alarming rate of injury caused by high impact workouts. He also noticed many injured athletes and everyday people struggling to find a workout that fit their body, injury and motivation.

Giorla saw the need for a high-energy workout, offering cardio yet without the impact on the body, offering a much safer work out. Giorla used his passion for dance and fitness to design a workout that combined the two, and created what is today, CARDIO BARRE®.

This barre based cardio workout is unlike any other exercise class offered in other gyms and studios.
In 2001, Richard Giorla came up with the answer when he created and opened his first Cardio Barre in Studio City, California.

Richard continues to use his motivational techniques to inspire and transform lives… He has inspired over 100,000 clients and gives clear techniques as a catalyst for change. His mission is to help others “Live a healthier and more meaningful lifestyle…”.

With the ever-growing success of the studio and rewards of hearing the life changing experiences from his clientele, Giorla franchised his fitness method and concept by developing the Cardio Barre Franchise, LLC. in 2007.

Richard is the author of the book “Raise the Barre” and is co-owner of “Dancers Barre” a dance wear store to serve the artistic community in los Angeles.
Understanding the importance of nutrition in the world of health, Richard became co-owner of “Soupure.”

Understanding the ever-changing landscape of the fitness industry and wanting to create more brand awareness, in 2017 Richard started offering licensing opportunities for the Cardio Barre program.
